8 Sometimes...Life Happens

Where in the world have you been? Everything okay at the Nest?

Where have I been? I last posted on my birthday over two months ago...when I asked myself some tough questions....honestly I've been searching for answers.

Priority Check

I took these last two months to get some priorities in order.   I have been doing a lot of growing and changing since my girls left the nest... I find myself wanting different things from life:
  • to play
  • to sit back and enjoy
  • to experience life to the fullest
My life used to remind me of a song by Alabama

I'm in a hurry to get things done....
I Rush and Rush until Lifes No Fun

Immersed in my career; working full time (50-60 hours a week) as an Elementary School Teacher, raced around bringing the girls to after school activities, spent every weekend running errands....As I look back, I'm disappointed that I rushed around without taking the time to stop and "smell the roses."

Now the advice I give to friends with young children, "Enjoy every moment, turn around twice and they are grown!"

Life One Day at a Time

I realize that my priorities have changed due to some life events.  The death of three friends (around my age) and my amazing sister, who has been battling cancer for the past 10 months.  (please keep those thoughts and prayers coming!)

As I wake up each morning, I don't focus on the negative but embrace the miracles of each new day.  Although I absolutely LOVE my job I no longer "Live to Work" but instead "I Work to Live".

I try to capture the beauty in each day....I recently purchased a Canon Rebel T5i and have been spending the weekends taking photographs instead of running errands.
Taking the time to discover the miracles in each new day. #butterfly
Life is all about taking the time to discover the miracles in each new day. #hummingbird

Living...One Day at a Time

So I have embraced the changes I am going through....I am not fighting them.  I now happily sit for hours watching the birds...just trying to capture the perfect shot.  I am thankful for all the miracles that surround me everyday.   I remind myself daily (sometimes hourly) just how short life is and I plan to make the most of it!

It reminds me of the lyrics from a beautiful Tim McGraw song,
"Someday I hope you get the chance to live like you were dying..."

I have refocused my blog as a wonderful hobby....not as a money maker.  I LOVE to write...I LOVE to take pictures.....I LOVE to share ideas, they didn't name me "Share-on and on and on" for nothing!
Even though I may not post as often... you can still see what I am up to by following me on Instagram and Facebook.

I am so fortunate to have you my faithful reader....SO, I promise that when I do post... it will be something I have worked hard on and hopefully you will enjoy it.

Please...Give Me Your Insight

How do you deal with personal changes? Aging?
What is the outlook that keeps you inspired?
Any life events that have shaped you for the better?
I'd LOVE to hear!

Thanks for Reading!

~I May be Linking Here~

  1. I commend your step back. Don't "work" too hard on your posts. We just like to hear from you, don't expect perfection. I am 58, three grown daughters, aging parents, no grandkids. I keep reminding myself that these are the EASY years, that I should be ENJOYING every minute, not waiting for a wedding or grandbabies to happen or wondering how I'm going to take care of parents in another state (before they actually need me to). So I am gardening every day, going on trips with my husband, "smelling the roses". :-)

    1. Thank you for your words of encouragement Brenda! These should be the "easy" years! Instead of wishing our lives away for things to happen...just enjoying what is the way to go!
Glad you are doing things you enjoy and taking time to smell the roses!

  2. Sharon, I can so relate to this. Ever since I started working the beginning of this year the blog has taken a backseat as I try to find balance in my life. My kids and family will always come first and so trying to find time to blog has become more difficult but instead of beating myself up over it I'm trying to embrace it. I'm finally finding some time to read again and also take the camera out here and there and these are things that make me happy...
I hope you will continue to enjoy life and relax while doing so! :)

    1. Thank you for sharing Susi! It is so hard to "balance" it ALL! Making time for the things we enjoy...that is what life is all about! The rest will take care of itself!

  3. Just love seeing a new post from you. my friend. So glad you were able to take a step back and really think it all through. I am also so very sorry for the loss of your dear friends and your sister - many prayers headed your way too. Miss you and I hope some day we can see each other again in person, sweet friend!! xo

    1. Thank you Claire!
      I'm bouncing back!
      Keep those prayers coming!
We will see each other again...Summer is almost here! : )
      Miss you as well!

  4. First of all, I'm so sorry to hear about all of the deaths you've had to mourn lately, especially your sister. I can't even imagine the dark night of the soul you went through; sending a big squeeze along with my condolences. And Sharon, I so applaud you for reevaluating your priorities and really cutting back on blogging so you could get out there and LIVE life! I've been doing more of that lately myself...and boy is it much-needed. Dang girl! Those photos are out of this world amazing! Keep doing what you're doing because clearly, you are right where you need to be. Much love!

    1. Aww Lauren...I appreciate your kind words. Please keep those prayers coming for my sister...she is such a strong woman!!
I ADORE my new camera! I'm having so much fun with it! The pictures are just luck...the camera is AMAZING!
      Love ya girl!

I'd LOVE to hear from you! Please leave me a comment and let me know what you're thinking!
