8 Ultimate Kielbasa & Sauerkraut

Easy Slow Cooked Ultimate Kielbasa and Sauerkraut brought to you by Life After Empty Nest

I LOVE fall...cooler weather, sweaters and boots, and FOOTBALL! Especially college football...
During both of my girls rein at Florida State University we bought season tickets, loaded the car and headed to the state capital of Tallahassee!  We collected tons of great memories along with becoming expert tailgaters!

Now that the girls are FSU alumni we tend to watch with a gathering of friends on a large TV..making our own tailgating party!
A few weekends ago we attended a college football party with our Michigan friends...there was quite a lineup of games that day! You might have seen the photos I shared on Facebook and Instagram.
Perfect tailgating meal!

What was I cooking in the Crock Pot? The BEST Kielbasa and Sauerkraut recipe EVER!!
How do I know? Well all 5 pounds of Kielbasa were GONE...my friends from the party are asking for the recipe and this girl, who has never been a fan of any type of kielbasa or sauerkraut, LOVES it!

I found this idea on Pinterest through which I discovered a fave fellow blogger, Michelle, from The Brown Eyed Baker  Turns out Michelle wasn't a fan of kielbasa and sauerkraut either until trying this recipe...since we are both brown eyed, curly haired gals...I knew I had to take her word for it and give it a try! EVERYONE is glad I did!!

It's Super Easy!

1 cup Brown Sugar
1 beer or lager - This time I used Pumpkin Ale by Shock Top
Kielbasa
Sauerkraut

I poured the beer and brown sugar into a sauce pan and heated over medium until the sugar dissolved.

Set aside to cool.

Meanwhile cut kielbasa into sandwich sized links and place in crock pot.  Open bag of sauerkraut and spread on top of kielbasa. (I don't drain like Michelle, I use the whole thing liquid and all)
Then you pour the beer and brown sugar mixture over the top.

That is it!!! I cook on low for 8 hours and then serve on your favorite bread.  We used Hawaiian mini sub rolls this time.

  1. This sounds really good. I don't usually like sauerkraut but with the brown sugar and beer mixture it sounds great. I love slow cooker recipes too, nothing like an easy dinner. Pinned
