22 Kitchen Overhaul Part One ~ Our 80's Horror!

It ALL started with this...
A hubby that loves to cook (I'm a lucky gal) and his obsession with this stove! He fell in love with this Duel Fuel Beauty in the form of a GE Monogram...the rest is history.
But it was quite a feat to get here so...Let me tell you the rest of the story.

The Kitchen ~ Before

I guess I shouldn't say it started with that beautiful stove because it was more like this...

I know...WOW! Right?! Not exactly a "chef's kitchen". When we purchased our 80's house my husband, Todd could "see" the possibilities...I know he is very capable of making those visions a reality...so I had to TRUST that this would not be my "forever" kitchen.

The Kitchen Vision

We had lots of problem areas.

We had this terrible wall separating the kitchen from the family room. (You know there is an 80's wet bar with sink in the family room through that lovely window!)

Todd loves to cook and we also LOVE to have a house full of family and friends.  Everyone always ends up in the "kitchen" and ours was not large enough! We needed a more "open" concept.

Here is a peek from the family room into the kitchen. (This flashback is giving me heart palpitations!)

This is a view from the breakfast nook into the family room...
don't you adore the wallpaper!! (YUCK)

Kicking the 80's Out ~ Demo Time

Once again it was wall paper removal time...while we are at it, let's take down a few walls...perhaps down to the studs and start over?

I'll leave you to absorb our task and be back with the demo and rebuild next time...plus how we lived in the house through the project. (and still stayed married!)

  2. I have also banished the 80's from our home one room at a time. The only thing I hate more than 80"s wallpaper is 80"s tile. I can't wait to see more of the transformation.

  5. Oh man, now I'm on pins and needles to see the next Part! I hope you don't keep us waiting too long...because I can already tell it's going to be epic, especially after that gorgeous opening picture. Wow, Sharon! Oh, and it's totally true that everyone always ends up hanging out in the kitchen. Why is that? Well, I suppose it's where all the food is! Lol.

    1. You won't be on pis and needles for too long Lauren....I'll keep the progress coming! We are OBSESSED with the stove, (Todd's baby) and since he is such an amazing cook...no one ever strays far from the KITCHEN...I guess you're right! It ALWAYS comes down to FOOD!
