Trish’s Turkey Burgers

When I used to think of a burger made out of turkey…I thought, No Thanks….
Until I tried these bad boys !!

My sister, visiting from Jersey, was raving about these burgers her best friend Trish makes.  She told me she would e-mail me the recipe and when she did… I ignored it.  (Shhhh!)
One day while going through tons of emails, I happened on it again and WOW!!

I am so glad we tried these….

I also must mention that this is a highly requested meal at the Firehouse when it’s the Lieutenants turn to cook!

Ingredients for Burgers

  • 1lb ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan & Romano shredded cheese
  • 1/2 t. dried oregano
  • 1/2 t. dried basil
  • 1 cup finely chopped fresh spinach
  • 2 T. tomato paste
  • 1 T. balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • dash of pepper
  • 1 clove chopped garlic
  • 1/3 C. panko bread crumbs

Directions

Combine all above ingredients.  Stir, but be sure not to over mix.

Shape into burgers. My hubby uses an old school tupperware burger press. Anyone else have one of these? We love it because ALL the burgers are the same size!

Shape meat into about 5-6 burgers.

Grill the burgers, flipping after bottoms are nicely colored with grill marks.  Flip and reduce heat to low and continue cooking until meat is cooked thoroughly.

Gratinée Topping

This topping is UNBELIEVABLE!

  • 1 1/2 C. grated chedder cheese
  • 2 T. mayo
  • 3 sun dried tomatoes chopped
  • 1 T. catsup
  • 1 t. dijon mustard
  • 1/2 C. scallions, slices

Combine above ingredients.

Spread about one tablespoon on top of each cooked burger. Close grill lid and  cook for about 2 minutes to melt the cheese.

We use Sandwich Thins…we don’t like all the extra bread in regular burger buns!

Serve and Enjoy!

We don’t put anything on top of these burgers because all of the yummy stuff is in the topping!!

Try these…I promise you they will become a requested meal in your nest!
